Rising Stars 2017

Another amazing weekend of competition, where Manaia swimmers really shone.

Twelve swimmers represented Manaia Surf and Swim club: Georgia Foster, Lola Mercer, Ruby Lewis O'Shea, Taha McLean Saad, Kahu Moetara, Ella Grindle, Lou Short, Erin Scott, James Duncan, Ethan Grindle, Ellie Brock, and Camryn Senescall.  Every swimmer did a personal best time in their swims.

Georgia swam amazing PBs in 50m Free and Back and won her first gold medal in 9&U relay, excellent achievement Georgia.

Lola PBd and medalled in every single race, as well gaining Gold in the relay; a super start to her swimming career.

Ruby was on fire with her swimming this weekend, entering 200m swims as well as all the 50m races, clocking up medals as she went.  Ruby swam 50m butterfly with a 9s PB, winning a well deserved Gold medal with a great finish.

Ella was also a champion over the weekend; her best swim being 100m breaststroke where she had to increase her arm rate/ speed to finish in first place.

Kahu PBd in all her races, coming in with a Bronze on her 50m Breaststroke.

Louie was a champion freestyler over the weekend, and worked really hard to win both his 50m FR and 100m FR races.

Erin swam a beautiful 100m butterfly correctly, winning a Gold medal, and a Silver for her 100 Backstroke.

James swam a great 100m backstroke, achieving a strong PB to win a Bronze Medal.  Excellent turns and finish James.

Manaia Rising stars of 2017

Ethan had a great weekend with his swimming, winning many medals, it was great seeing you do so many PBS and well done on winning a gold medal.

Ellie did really well with her 50m breaststroke winning a silver medal, and banking a 20s PB in her 200Br.

Camryn did not let two broken toes stop her from achieving 6 PBs over the weekend, including a 4s PB in 100Br.

Taha (having just reached the lofty age of 9) is no stranger to bling, and clocked up 4 Golds for all his 200m races.  Bless.

Thank you to Ramona and all the parents for their support.  We really had the best vocal support team at the competition.  Well done too to the parents relay team, you did us proud.
